If you had a warranty why did you buy a new oven?

We had American home shield the first year in our house. Paid $45 a month. The problem is you have to pay up front $100 to submit a service order. Usually you have to wait at least a week for them to come out, and they don’t tell you when they are coming until after you have paid. Our microwave stopped working and we used them. 2 visits and 3 weeks later they repaired it. If something vital like a fridge goes, unless you have a backup you cannot wait a week or two for them to show up. Long story short we spent $640 over the year for them to fix our microwave. They also tried to up our premium to $55 a month for year two. It maybe worth it if you’re HVAC goes out or something similar. Otherwise i wouldn’t bother.

Because she wasn’t waiting 2 months for them to decide if they were going to fix a 20 year old oven or not like they did with the fridge

The $100 is a trade call fee or service fee.

Had one for several years. My experience was when they sent a company out for a service call, they weren’t the cream of the crop. It probably paid for itself on claims on my pool (which they ended up dropping me over)

It's common here to have one included with the purchase of a home. Never had a good experience. The last month of the warranty, my water heater went out. The policy cost 500. The initial service fee was 60. 350 of the replacement/ install wasn't covered. And it took over a week to get replaced.
The whole time, I couldn't get someone in the phone to let me know when the new unit would be installed, yet got daily calls to renew the policy.
Actually had a plumber quote me a rough estimate shortly after. I saved about 300 bucks by having the warranty, but had to deal with a week of cold water. Such a waste.

When you sell/purchase a home, the realtors (at least in TX) really push for the purchase contract to provide that the seller will pay for 1 year home warranty service for the buyer. The reason why? Realtors get kickbacks from the home warranty companies for all these 1 year contracts that they sell.
I concur that the services (at least the ones I've seen) are garbage.

One was included with my wife and I's house. The fridge went out and it was such a pain to deal with the warranty that we went and bought a new fridge ourselves.

Had American Home Shield which was included with the purchase of my new home a few years ago.
Lost almost all the freon in my AC unit, and was surprised to find out that they covered the labor, but not the absurd cost of R22 freon. There was a small line item that said something like they covered xxx amount of dollars per lb. I ended up spending $700 on freon.
