I have a huge selection of grass that is not doing as well as the rest of the lawn.
On further investigation I found an emerald green thin paste looking stuff where I should see soil or organic matter. It’s like a green slime for lack of a better term.
Is this a fungal Problem?

I think it’s algae. Is the area under shade?

No shade.
Do you kill algae the same way you kill fungus?

I’ve never had an algae problem, but I believe it’s a function of the soil being too wet. Is this spot swampy?

Wouldn’t say swampy.....the soil has a lot of clay content. Guess that could hold water.

Take a sample of the grass to your Ag Extension service. Take some soil too, and they can test for soil chemistry and fungus, etc. Had some in mine and they recommended the proper chemicals to treat it. Free testing in Arkansas and I am sure there also.
