Long time lurker of this board... I have a small centipede lawn (0.3 acre) I’m battling weeds and looking to upgrade my lawn care routine. I’m confused on what fertilizer I can add at this time/temp to help my centipede.

Any recommendations are appreciated, TIA

Milorganite is a safe option. Do you have any pics of the weeds?

Centipede is sensitive to phosphorus, the middle number in a fertilizer. Use a 15-0-15, or something with a very low middle number.
No problem feeding now. Make sure you water it in.
Consistent mowing will help eliminate many weeds.
Fertilize again in July.

I’ll try to take some pics later. Google and I think that it’s patches of crabgrass in the backyard with spurge infesting areas of the front yard.

I applied Weed n Feed around mid March, but it didn’t slow either of them down. Just this week I spot treated with round up, I plan on digging and pulling a lot of the dead weeds out this weekend.

I weed and feed in March. Use 888 every 6 weeks after. Voila

Lespedeza and dallisgrass. Celsius will take care of lespedeza and suppress dallisgrass. If that’s all the dallisgrass you have I’d just dig it up. See if you can order 16-0-8 fert from site one. I saw it on their website yesterday.

MSM Turf is a cheaper option for lespedeza. It’s the bigger threat in your lawn because it will choke out your grass and spread relatively fast. I’ve gotten in the habit of manually pulling up dalliagrass after a rain while the ground is wet and manageable.

Celsius gets rid of lespedeza faster than msm. Msm might require a second application. It’s a member of the legume family and has an extensive root systemZ

The local hardware store didn’t have Celsius. Do you buy yours locally or order it online?

I’m in the Gonzales area.

The best price I’ve seen for Celsius would be for you to drive to Baton Rouge and purchase it at Site One Landscape Supply off Siegen Lane in the Industrialplex (Exchequer Drive). When I bought it 3 years ago it was around $95 as I recall. I’ve used only 1/2 the bottle so though the upfront cost is high, the annual cost is really no more expensive than many other herbicides we use because it lasts so long. I think Cleggs Nursery on Siegen also sells it - you’ll have to call for pricing as I can’t recall the price though it was a good bit higher than Site One as I remember. Site One is also where I buy lawn fertilizer and pre-emergent herbicides at good pricing.

Just bought some at Cleggs on Siegen recently... $130ish...but it's going to take a long time to use it like Craw said

High, medium, and low rate. High will, medium will with 2 apps in 14-21 days, low won’t.

Went to Site one today, picked up fert and Celsius. Celsius was $102, for those who are curious.

Just finished putting down the 50# bag of fert and watering it all in. They had 15-5-15 in stock, so that’s what I went with.
