Extending main water line to property

I’m looking at buying property in Grand Isle that currently would need the main water line extended to the lot. Would the cost of this extension be my responsibility to pay to the parish?

It’s pretty standard that if a line needs extension, the person needing the extension is responsible for it. There’s no real incentive for a municipality to extend a main for one property. They’ll pay if it’s for a bunch.

Before you buy a lot in GI, make sure you know if it has a wetlands determination. You won't get any type of permit without one.
I'm guessing the odds are it's wet since it doesn't even have water there yet.

Most of the time the water utility company provides water to the meter, and the owner is responsible from the meter to where they need it.
Do you have a meter OP? Usually the utility company will move the meter to your lot, but this may also come at an initial set up.

It’s grand isle - there a numerous areas where the main line doesn’t go all the way down the street

How far is the existing main from your property?

Companies are only responsible for their services lines before the meter. Anything on the backside of the meter is the owners responsibility
