Electric Cooktops
Time to replace ours. What do you recommend?

Gas is not an option.

re: Electric Cooktops
We replaced ours with induction. If gas isn't an option, I'll never go back to regular electric.

ETA: We have and like our Bosch

re: Electric Cooktops
I replaced a failing Jennair with this KitchenAid. I have been very pleased.

re: Electric Cooktops
How is induction different from electric? I know there is a difference but what is it?

re: Electric Cooktops
Vote for induction. Installed an induction range, not cooktop, about a month ago and it's great.
Replaced an electric stove.

Electric heats an electrical heating element that heats the stovetop that heats the pan. (All conduction)

Induction uses fancy physics to heat the bottom of the pot/pan directly. (skips over the stove surface)

More expensive. More efficient. More powerful (not relying on heat conducting through the stovetop). Only works with pots/pans that stick to a magnet.
