Edging for Yard - Between Rock Driveway and Grass

I'm looking to put a rock driveway/parking area and some sod down in my almost barren back yard.
I'm trying to decide on what type of edging I should use to separate the two. There's the black rubber ones that are cheap and you need to dig a small little trench to install. Then there's the metal ones that you sort of hammer in.
Trying to come up with pro's and con's of the two, has anyone done something like this before and can share some wisdom?

The metal is easy to install, but it seems like it would be easily squashed/deformed/bent by passing cars. Whereas the rubber would hold up to the odd roll-over.

I'd go brick of some kind if you are up for the project, otherwise metal. I've yet to see a rubber trim that didn't end up cut by trimmers and mowers. Then they look horrible.

My parents 12 x 12 timber, but I'm sure you could do 4x4 0r 6x6 and get creative with it.

I did brick and installed myself, wasnt too bad but you need to do it right if you get many freeze thaw cycles or they will move on you over time.

I personally wouldn't use metal edging or rubber for this. The rubber won't hold up and the metal is too narrow and wont stay upright/ feel very good to step on. Both of these options are better for flower beds than the application you described.
I'd go with brick, rock, timbers or landscape pavers. You could also do a poured in place edging similar to this. Quikcrete
The above options would also do a better job of preventing grass from spreading.
I've looked at putting rock down in the past. If/When I get the chance I'm planning to put down a solid base of some cheap and then top dress with something nicer like decomposed granite.

I used 8” Corten steel edging. Thick and deep enough that it won’t bend, but looks great for containing a rock/grass garden.

Buy a gas edger and run it every couple of weeks
