Draining back yard on a skinny lot

Purchased a home in a historic district of Nola and am working to remodel. Drainage is something I don’t have much experience with and wanted some tips.
Got a 30x20 back yard and want to keep drainage from running underneath the house. I’m thinking French drain along the back and down the sides to the front of the house. Some of the things I’m going to measure and consider are slope and drainage exits. Does the board have any more tips?

Gutters on the house is a must to start with. French drains will be your ticket.

Got the gutters in and they help a ton for the sides of the house. Roof doesn’t slope to the back so that’s a plus as well.

If you want to keep water from running under the house and you have enough slope to the front why not put in a couple catch basins with solid pipe?
