Dishwasher Broke. Looking for recs

Dishwasher was finishing up a heated dry and started smoking. No buttons are working now, and I’m pretty sure it’s fried somehow. Anybody got any recs for an affordable and reliable dishwasher? Seems like high 400s is about the floor for a new one.

Spend a little extra and get a Bosch.

We have the Kitchen Aid. It works great. We were planning to get a Bosch but it wouldn’t fit where we had cut out.

If you're looking for entry level, this is the one I use in my rentals. Tenants seem to like it:

We got this Whirlpool and have been very happy with it.
Sanitizer setting, 1 hour wash option, stainless steel tub, and it is very quiet.

interesting seeing recommendations for Bosch..
ours is incapable of drying dishes on any setting; we have friends with one and they agree.

Have a Kitchenaid that's very quite, cleans and dries well.

Gave mine away for this reason. If I wanted to dry dishes I wouldn't need a dishwasher.

Get in line for the Fisher Paykel because its taking 8-12 weeks to get in.

The top 8 models on Consumer Reports are Bosch. The Bosch Ascenta SHE3AR72UC and the Bosch Ascenta SHX3AR75UC models are the top two and run 600-700 dollars.

KitchenAid is what we have now that just broke. Worked great before that. Would buy the same one but it’s more expensive than some of the others listed in here so far and we will be moving in 2 years so I don’t want to spend the extra money if the others have decent reviews. Thanks for the input fellas

Bump because mine just broke and I'm in the market. I see a lot of people swearing by Bosch, but then
The one I have that just died is a KitchenAid. It came with the house I bought less than 3 years ago, so it's older than that but not super old. Anyway since I've been here I've changed the control board, thermal fuse, and the interlock switches. All on different occasions and all "fixed" it at the time. Now it won't do anything at all. Breaker wasn't tripped, but I flipped it off for a couple hours and turned it back on and still nothing. I could probably pull it out again and figure out what's failed this time, but I feel like the damned thing has a gremlin and I will just keep chasing it.
I see mostly Bosch and KitchenAid in here, so I guess I'll go with KitchenAid again and hope it's gremlin-free?

Is that all the top end dishwashers are running? I was thinking you had to get well over a grand to get a high end model. Maybe $2k.

Just curious, do the Bosch models you all own have Heated Dry or a similar function and it just doesn’t do the trick or did it dry at one point in time and maybe doesn’t any more? I’ve honed in on a Bosch so I want to do my research before pulling the trigger. Anything will be an improvement over my current one which is so damn loud it’s annoying.

Another vote for Bosch.

No Bosch dishwasher model has heated drying. Mine has a feature where it uses extra hot water to rinse and then pops door open a couple of inches so that the water evaporates. We run it at night and it gets dishes more dry than my old dishwasher with heating ever did. Some of the higher end models than mine also have another feature that supposedly does an even better job drying. I think all of them dry pretty well, but I specifically bought the one I did (500 series iirc) because it had the door open feature.
To me I prefer non heated drying now because I can put plastic on the bottom and it won't melt. With kids we wash a ton of plastic dishes.

We have a Kenmore. Go with KitchenAid or Bosch.
