Up here in the Midwest they say to throw it down when ground temps are 55.

Here is the issue. Ground temps hit 55 today. Tomorrow has high low of 61/33. Followed by 10 days in the low 40s to low 50s for daily high temperatures.

So the ground temp hit the mark today and might hold it tomorrow until night and then wont be in that range for 2 weeks probably.

Hold off on that pre emergent right? Or do I have to throw it down tomorrow? The 55 degree mark needs to be sustained, correct?

I think the rule of thumb is to go by the 5-day average. At least in the south... not sure if where you are involved other factors.

Here is the place to check.

Crabgrass does start to germinate at 55 degrees. That’s not surface level temps thoughts. It’s 55 degrees at seed depth. That being said what’s your grass type and what pre em did you plan on putting down?

Current air temps back down to 48 now and won't hit 60 for another 10 days with some freezing nights sprinkled in.

I have a mix of Kentucky blue grass, perennial rye, and red fescue. A few areas with some of that crappy talk rescue I would like to eliminate. Plus a couple small patches pop up of bentgrass. Overall it looks pretty good though but it is becoming a hobby to make it badass good.

I was planning on using tenacity as a spray and that way I can use it on the bentgrass if I see it also.
