Concrete patio refurbishment

We are having bids for doing a nice vaulted patio cover for part of our patio. One thing we are trying to figure out are options to make the concrete look better. One option is to have sun deck applied to it similar to what people have when they gave a pool installed. That would cost around 8k for 950 sq ft.

Other option is to have engineered pavers overplayed on top. Guy said it would run around 20k for that! Seems really high to me.

Have any of you used these or another option? Pic of patio. Excuse mess it is winter here in KC.

Looks like joints are about 10' o.c.. Sawcut new joints at 5'o.c.and the do a light sandblasting to every other square to create a checkerboard pattern.

More expensive would be a thinset topping. Look up Bomanite thinset.

I knew a guy that was a terrazzo floor installer. He covered his patio with pea gravel & clear epoxy. It looked great!

I have no idea how it held up over time though.
