Commercial Applicator License in Louisiana
Posted by tigerlife36 on 9/23/21 at 11:33 am00
I'm looking at getting a commercial applicators license for applying herbicides and fertilizers for business. The LDAF website is not really clear on which class you need to take. Does anyone know exactly what to take as well as what to expect?

Though I’m not sure of the contact person with LDAF, why don’t you shoot an email to Dr. Ron Strahan the weed and turf extension specialist and professor with the LSU AgCenter rstrahan@agcenter.lsu.edu and I’m sure he can answer those questions and give you the contact information for the person at LDAF that you’ll want to communicate with. Although different agencies those persons almost always work very closely with each other.

My license is in Ag pests demonstration and research. Once a year there is one day class to continue education and renew license. Have to do it once every 3 years. At the same meeting people wanting a license have to spend 2 more days of classes. At the end there are multiple exams- one a general knowledge test the other should be more specific to the license you want. The classes are done by the LSU extension service. Test administered by dept of Ag. Pretty sure learning materials are available through the extension website.
