Check your gutters for ice dams!

PSA - don't forget to check your gutters for ice accumulation and dams. A buddy just called me...his gutters froze and created an ice dam at his roof line. Eventually it made its way down inside his walls and leaking out inside house now. I just checked mine and the gutters were 3/4 full of ice/slushy mix. I'd never thought of gutters in a situation like this before, so thought I'd pass it on.

I've been scooping it out with the head of a garden hoe. Or a mini handheld "shovel" for planting flowers. I'm about to pour a bucket of hot water in the downspouts to clear those, too.

I spent 2 hours today pouring hot water in my gutters to melt the ice that had them fully clogged. Freaking nightmare.
