Buttonweed question
Posted by Bayouboogaloocrew on 5/13/20 at 6:09 pm00
I spot sprayed MSM a week and a half or so ago. I see buttonweed turning purple. Does this mean it’s dying? I know the MSM is taking because I see other crap in my yard dying.

Yes. If you hit it again say next weekend you’ll kick it even more.

Where did this shite come from? I don’t ever remember it growing up or even back not so long ago.

You clever bastard. Should have expected that answer. Transported in sod? Seed? How?

Probably by bird droppings, or any slight flooding. I didn't have it till flood of Katrina.

Makes sense I guess. Couldn’t be flooding for me at my present location. Moved in here right before Katrina and have never been close to flooding.

Don't quit. Don't let the purple fool you. Keep stabbing until it ceases to be.

Msm works and it is a cost effective option. If you have Celsius then use that. 50% of the time Celsius will clear it in one shot. 100% in 2.

Can I spot spray Weed Free zone for spurge and buttonweed? I guess that is rhetorical since they are listed on the label
You need to be careful with Weed-Free-Zone this time of the year, the 2,4 D that it contains is particularly damaging to desirable lawn grasses in this heat. Spot spraying the targeted weeds should be OK. You have higher latitude on the temperature restriction with MSM Turf and Celsius.
