Started a few projects and need more materials to finish properly. Need materials for other projects to keep busy in my down time too. Having a kid under 5yrs old and a wife that’s worried about COVID-19 has restricted my ability to leave and get items. Last visit to HD ended in a long talk and “reset” of my 2-14 days of potentially being exposed.

So, I ask for your suggestions on how to get the following while limiting exposure.

Backsplash
Flooring for 2 rooms
Additional wood pieces for shelving, desk, and bed platform that’s in process.

Thanks in advance. I know this can’t be accomplished with ZERO exposure and I’m not cutting down trees to plane the wood and make my own sheets. I am trying to figure out my best options so if this craziness lasts through April that I’m able to check off some household projects we have wanted to do for some time now.

Make a list... order... have them deliver?

Lady here in Memphis... I kid you not... ordered a package of Toilet Paper from Lowes and had it delivered. They charged her $86 to deliver a $6 package of TP.

Those places do deliver. It's a cost, but it may be worth it, especially for big items.
One interesting story about flooring: I purchased some flooring from Lumber Liquidators and the delivery charge was around $150 or so. But, since the location of where it was delivered was in a different town than the store, they were able to charge a lower sales tax rate, so I actually saved money by their shipping it.

I ordered flooring for two rooms and a toilet online from Lowes and Home Depot about 10 days ago. I did pick it up at my local stores but I did have the option online to have it delivered to my house for free. Floor from Lowes took 3 days to get to the store. Toilet from HD took about 10 days to arrive.

You could probably order online and pick it up without getting out of your truck. Pull up to the loading area, call them, and tell them your order #. Tell them I'm here and load it in my truck.

Both Lowes & HD offer free shipping on orders over $45. HD says free 2 day shipping and Lowes 1-3 business day and you need to create a My Lowes account to get free shipping.

The safest way?

Imagine materials could be delivered and then you could let it sit for a certain number of days before use. I've seen published reports for number of days a coronavirus can live on various packaging.

My goodness, man. Just make. Quick trip to the hardware store. Don’t lick any door handles. Live on the wild side.

Yeah.

I took my 4 year old with me to HD Sunday.

Didn’t let him touch anything and we washed hands before we left. HD is limiting the amount of people in at one time.

Just practice common hygiene and it will be ok.
