So today wife noticed a honey bee in the house, gave it the sandal treatment. About 3 hours later a neighbor asked me if I was selling honey. Went around the house and noticed about 40-60 bees swarming. Found out same thing happened to a neighbor down the street. Tomorrow will have a guy come out to remove and relocate the hive.

Meanwhile have had about 5 bees in the home so this is fun...

Well luckily they were very early in starting the hive. Sprayed the area so they will tell their friends it’s a no go and now need to repair about six bricks

You need to patch it up extra extra well. Once they start a hive sometimes they are easy to scare Away and sometimes they are a real pain.

My experience is they will try to come back every year :-(

Seal it up completely.

Sealed up all the holes. Thankfully the queen never moved in so now they will see the area as undesirable due to the smell and try and find another place

Probably scouts looking for a place to take the hive. Squirter them.with your hose.

You might have to do that five or 50 times over the next few days, but you want to do that. If the scouts decide they like your house they will bring the hive over quickly then you are kind of screwed. Once they are in the soffets or attic you will have to open it up and have them removed.
