Battery powered lawn equipment
Posted by tigeralum06 on 8/21/21 at 1:36 pm00
I am a city boy with a small yard. Probably 940 sq ft. Any suggestions for a battery powered mower and trimmer?
Eta - thanks for the info. Going with ego.

80v Kobalt from Lowe’s are decent quality and price on my experience.

I have Ego trimmer, blower and hedge trimmer. I love all 3. I would go with their lawnmower but my 30” toro self prepared cuts too much time for me to downgrade the cutting width.

Ego
The 650cfm blower is worth the extra money
I prefer the one piece carbon shaft trimmer over the others, the folding one isn't necessarily bad, the one piece is just lighter and stronger, that folding part isn't as strong as the carbon shaft, and it never will be.

Try and stick with a large battery tool manufacturer. DeWalt is a good line because they make a huge variety of tools that share the same battery type. Milwaukee is another good brand as well.

Dewalt ryobi ego all are fine. Pick one and stay w it for batteries. Hedge trimmers are good too if u need them

I have ego hedge trimmer, blower, chainsaw, weed trimmer and I really like their products. Well made. Only issue I have is that they only have lawn stuff.
I also have a line of dewalt products and what I like is that I can swap batteries between a drill, power saws, and the lawn equip like pole saw, and blower. Dewalt stuff is also well made.

I made a thread on my experience with a Ryobi electric mower. I ended up returning it and getting a Honda gas mower. It was really easy to use and had plenty of power but it wasn't durable enough. I broke the plastic handle on my third mow.

I have dewalt blower and weed eater. Only because I already had a lot of tools and batteries. No complaints.
I had this same combo and for the same reasons. 2 months after praising them to someone else online who inquired, the weedeater stopped working and my blower is starting to act funny. I think my yard is a little too big for electric. The weedeater seemed to struggle quite a bit in moderate growth around the edges of the house too and the spool was tempermental with specific strings... Broke down and wend straight shaft Husqvarna.
Some things just arent meant to be electric. I think Weedeaters are a big part of "Some Things"

Just converted to EGO this season and so far I'm impressed. I have the 650 blower (addicted to the sound), weedeater, edger, hedge trimmer, and chainsaw (cut down a small dead tree like butter). I don't think I can get on board with the mower tho...I use a zeroturn. If I had a small yard I might consider the push mower.

Ego has a zero turn and it looks quite impressive
I sat on one at Lowe’s and it felt solid

I have mostly Dewalt power tools...but for weedeater I have the Black & Decker 40v. It is awesome. I got the double pack blower and weedeater for like $110 5 years ago and the weedeater is still kicking arse. The blower is worthless though. Even my dad who loves his old school tools was real impressed.
I also bought a second double pack afterwards just to get the second battery and have a backup weedeater but it has not yet been necessary.
