A couple of folks in my hood did. Looks great. I’d like to but don’t want to set back my St Aug. wish I had Bermuda.

I enjoy the time off from having to cut grass.

After I nuked the Virginia buttonweed I had bare spots I filled in with rye. The rabbits are keeping it short

I do annual rye every year and love the way it looks.

Once it gets really cold here, it doesn't grow much either, but stays green.

I did rye this year in my lawn. I don't know if I would do it in St Aug simply because you have to scalp before you seed and I wouldn't scalp St Aug. I cut my bermuda down to a half inch in October and seeded.

I like the rye look as well and a few neighbors do it, but I can’t reconcile planting rye when using fall pre-emergents. How do you all handle this?

I didn't this year but have in years past, after killing a bunch of VBW.

I skipped this year. I’m not mad. Actually had to run my mower this weekend just to get it ready for spring. Last year I put it down and it left my zoysia thin in some spots and took all summer to get back.

Had some rye seed to throw down, but my St Aug is still alive and well.

Not sure if still will be at the end of this week.

We’re growing elbon rye as a cover crop on some soybean ground...

Planted at 75 lb/acre. Looks great so far but going to burn it down in about a month or so.

I have Zoyisa/Bermuda mix and I don't scalp before laying rye down at all. I cut normal height, seed 2 days in a row and rake after to get the seeds down, then water a bunch.

My lawn looks great. Rye can grow anywhere, that shite is sprouting all over my concrete driveway

Well you’re supposed to scalp. It does grow any where but that’s not the whole reason behind it.

St Aug and centipede don’t do well overseeding with ryegrass.

Interesting, what is the reasoning behind it?

I always thought scalping my bermuda/zoysia before a harsh winter would weaken it and leave it vulnerable, thus creating a poor grow season in the Spring.

I'm in Chattanooga and we get very cold winters and very hot summers, if that matters.

Recent new construction and I put it down in areas that I didn’t sod. Really just need it to hold the dirt in place until I can plant in the spring

Elbon rye is a grain and very similar to wheat. Rye grass is a cool season grass and usually much cheaper.

FIL did on his property. Looks like shite because he threw some down under his oak trees but didn’t almost anywhere else. He basically planted .5 acre or rye and left the other 5 acres which looks like shite cause he doesn’t take care of it.
