That's pretty much as easy as it gets. Spray on with a garden sprayer, wait a few minutes, hose off.

Not sure what kind of "siding" you are talking about, but Chase Kraft with C&C Pressure Washing has pressure washed my house several times in the five years since we built. He's fairly priced and does a hell of a job.

I've used jomax and a cheapo pressure washer from harbor freight

I've used jomax with a lot of success as well. For really stubborn mildew areas, I've used "30 seconds" from Lowes recently. It has a strong bleach component that works really well. It's a little more expensive than jomax and you have to be more careful around plants and shrubs.
