I’m looking to plant 2 trees in the front of my house. Want something that will grow fast and stay green. They would be in a lot of sunlight. I was just looking at the LSU Ag page and saw green ash trees.

Other recommended options?

It's a deciduous tree.

Just saw that. Well at least I’d have shade during the summer lol!

Do not plant green ash. The emerald ash borer is making it's way south. When they reach you the larvae will girdle your trees and kill them.

Plant black walnut trees instead. Their roots secrete a toxin that kills off the grass in your yard, making a nice mud pit for children/pets etc.

I have an ash tree. I think it is a green ash. Not sure. It is a nice a sturdy tree. It provides good shade, but it is not a very fast grower, it loses its leaves one of the first and is one of the last to grow new leaves in the spring.
I had read years ago, it is a nice tree to have near your house because it is sturdier than most other trees. I have no facts to base this on, other than the one I have is about 15 years old and is doing fine.
