I have (2) Lennox units that are 6 years old. My downstairs unit has been flawless, my upstairs unit has been serviced 10+ times. Recently the evap coil was leaking and had to be replaced, cost me ~$800.

I contacted Lennox and filed a complaint about 2 years ago. Told them either my upstairs unit was designed improperly or I got a lemon. After several months of back and forth they wouldn’t do shite. I asked them if it was normal for one of their units to have to be serviced multiple times per year. Their defense was that they covered the parts under warranty, blah, blah, blah

You can order a new fan motor for like 150 or less on Amazon. It takes 10 minutes to swap out.

No, that is in no way a reasonable price for the work.

This is rape.

I just replaced the fan motor on my front unit. Took old one off and carried to electrical supply house (Northport Electrical Supply) and got a new motor for $113. There was nothing wrong with the blade so I put old one back on.

It took me about an hour but I could do it the next time in about 15 minutes now that I know how to get the shroud off.

A small local company/technician would be what you're looking for. Get another diagnosis and quote. Don't even tell them what the other guy said or his quote.

No need to get parts yourself, let the tech pick up what you need. Any quote going forward has to be less.

I could advise you better if in Lafayette, but you're in Jennings I suppose.

Lennox parts warranty is 10 years typically. You should be able to find a Lennox authorized shop through their site to get quotes. You should only be paying labor.

You won't be able to buy actual Lennox parts online as they only sell to licensed installers who have passed their training classes.

Lennox makes good stuff like everyone else, but it sounds like a bad install has done you in to an extent.

Edit.... Looks like the builders grade stuff only gives a 10 year warranty if you registered it.

There should be a sticker on the unit inside from who originally installed it. Have you tried them?

An authorized retailer came by today and I have a leak and need a new coil, plus on the outdoor unit the fan motor and blade are loose and need to be replaced.

this is a lie, the guy is scamming you. fans are solidly mounted and cant be "loose" unless the whole top of unit is falling apart with rust. blades have riveted blades that "could" be lose but a replacement fan blade costs $30.

as for the rest:

Outdoor fan motor with blade- $918 (actual cost for this including labor is $300-$350)
Level Condenser $150 (this is not even a real thing but you can level the slab under the unit yourself with a shovel and a couple of bricks for free)
Evap Coil Replacement $3,500 (a new evap coil costs around $300-$400 max plus labor)
Emergency drain pan $488 (emergency drain pan costs $100-$150 max)
Freon per lb $71 (this is the only price he gave you that wasnt a butt rape)

this is not a hard job to do but the placement of the blade on the shaft must be closely paid attention to. if you reinstall it an inch higher or lower it has a big change in airflow but most people arent aware how this happens when it just looks like you can put it anywhere.

My AC guy just changed out my motor and blade that was turning backwards.

We're pointing fingers at each other, as we've both worked on the unit. I think he put in the wrong blade/motor and direction, he thinks I did. Thankfully, it's resolved and working fine now. (Been this way for 9 months or 3 years). I'm paying $300 for parts and labor and have no problem doing so.

AC repair can be tricky and many are not comfortable working with electricity. And as you say, blade placement on a shaft is critical.

many motors come with a couple of looped wires that you cut and reverse them if you need the motor to turn the other way.

you may have gotten one like that and just never noticed, or as you said he used the wrong direction blade when he changed it out.

im hesitant to laugh at it because in the intense heat at the end of a long day its very easy to make mistakes and thats from guys who do it for a living but its hard to justify not noticing the fan going thew wrong way because he should have checked pressures after and that would have tipped him off something was wrong
