I like the customization 5/3/1 affords me and the slow progress over time. 5x a week lifting with no conditioning isn’t my typical cup of tea. But I’m all in on the brotherhood of Squatober and doing something different for a month. Plus, AA seems like a good dude so why not give it a go every year?

I can’t believe there’s only 5 workouts left in Squatober. Does anyone know what we can expect for the last week? Does it culminate with a maximum effort day?

You go for a max on the last day. I remember the last few workouts were very light and low volume.

So the last day is always the PR party. Just testing your 1 rep max. Looking over my workouts from last year it looks like the first two days are semi-intense and the next two are easy. Here is the squat portion of the last week of 2020.
Monday: 4x3@65% 2x3@75% 2x2@80%
Tuesday: 5@65% 4@75% 3@80% 2@85% 1@90%
Wednesday: 3x5 50/55/60%
Thursday: 2x5@50%
Friday: PR Party

Finished Day 22. Had to make my first modification because I only have one barbell and it really wasn’t a big deal. Had to break apart the bench press and snatch grip deadlift superset and do them separately. Because of that, I also cut the rest in half. Very minor but my OCD doesn’t like me changing from the prescribed routine.

I couldn’t pass up the chance to party with Harley Quinn so I chose that one. Definitely had nothing to do with the fact that I don’t stand a chance of doing 3 x 7 reps at 83%.
