I am looking at getting some new wedges and I know the answer is to get properly fitted but was curious how much the grinds will effect me? I play to a 10 handicap and I was planning to buy these off of eBay for a decent deal.
I researched what each grind is designed for but curious if it will really effect me? It would be three different wedges with three different grinds (F standard, M and S).

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Your handicap is irrelevant. It's all about your swing type (path, dig, etc.) and the shot you want to hit. Grind and lie angle are the two most important parts of a wedge.

understand. I can get a good deal on a set but probably not the best idea to just buy a set of wedges with different grinds.

A few thoughts - are you consistent enough to notice whether or not you have the proper grinds?

If its a good deal, get em and try em out. If you cant score better than your current set up, sell em and try again.

Good rule of thumb to start,

take big divots or play in softer soil = more bounce

are a picker and play tight fairwars = less bounce

Avg bounce is around 10/12 degrees on a 56* wedge

I play a good bit of bounce but I struggle bigly with short pitch shots around the green when the ground is soft

Not sure if I have a deceleration problem, or path, or what

Do you all play different grinds within your set of wedges? Or would you expected all wedges you game to be the same grind?

ETA: And what flex do you guys typically play if you have a vokey wedges?

The bounce should always be different simply due to different lofts, but grind can be the same. But again, it depends on how you use the club. If you carry a 60* for flops, it shouldn't have the same grind as the 52* you use for pitches.

Most of my wedges I will use for full out shots, and then I typically use my 60* for anything and everything around the green. Just the way I've grown into my wedges. If I need a decent amount of run I obviously will switch to a less lofted club.
