I am around 9-10 cap will these irons be to much. I hit them today and really like them. But some podnahs tell me i am not good enough for them. Any thoughts

I am also considering the AP3. They would be a little more forgiving Any advice would be great.

I got into single digits for a short time. I figured I needed a player’s iron, because I was ready for it and saw scratch in my mind. I’m going back to a more GI iron. There are several GI irons out there that have the qualities and looks of a player’s iron.

Note: I am not a good iron player.

It really just depends. I'm probably pretty close to the same. I'm a low 80s shooter, but all my bad holes come off the tee. I am a much better iron player than driver so I have more of a players iron.

If distance isn’t an issue, get the CB’s. Learn to hit them in the center of the face...you’ll become a better player.

If you are a short hitter I’d go with a game improvement iron that lets you hit it all over the face.

Get AP2 if you want a players iron at that level

Another question would be: do you shape shots towards tight pins or hit the middle of the green?

If you want to work the ball, a player’s iron like the CB would be a good choice.

Ap1 and Ap2 would prob be better for you.

I have 3 sets of titleist and recently went to the mizzuno mp29 blades.

I’m going to get a blade one day. Apex MBs or Titleist MBs. One day...

Would you? Why? Most short hitters I know rarely miss the middle and have killer short games, they prefer to play to certain numbers where they have a real high percentage of getting up and down from....Most of those players play MB/CB irons not shovels, they are looking for precision and accuracy not distance.

Most people should be playing a stock shot 95% of the time. Working the ball both ways isn't necessary, especially with the current golf balls

I’ll bet most of those guys are very low single digit or even + handicaps.

I believe this guy said he’s about a 9 or 10. Probably not hitting the center of the face consistently. If he needs distance, the game improvement irons will help him. If he’s not hitting the center and really wants to become a better player and doesn’t NEED distance, playing a club that forces him to hit it flush will help him in the long run.

No one “needs” distance. That’s bullshite the manufacturers sell. If you aren’t long, move tees.

Don't get caught up with trying to play irons like these. Speith plays AP2. AP3 is defiantly longer and still offers plenty of workability. If you can hit the center of the face every time then AP2 is an option. AP2 feels like butter compared to AP3. If you tend to have a few miss hits per round like I do then AP3 is the way to go if you want Titleist.

I'm an 8-9 handicap and AP3 keeps me from overswinging. Something I've always struggled with

Get a combo set. 3-6 in a CB, 7-PW in an MB.

Thanks. I really liked the AP3 also. I hit my irons pretty well. I am a 9- 10 with most strokes coming from around green and them 2 bad drives a round. Guy told me my iron game would improve with the CB’s. Maybe I will go with the AP3

Sounds like that is what you play. Do you like yours.

I'm about the same handicap and play muscle backs.

I think it's more about how you hit your irons and not the handicap.

Most strokes for me are chipping and putting.

Ive found that I don't focus when using GI irons. I've gone to true blades to GI and now settled on more of a mid cavity players. The less forgiving the iron, the more I concentrate and the better I play. It's all between the ears. If it doesn't make you quite playing, it'll make you a better iron player.

my irons almost made me quit playing. So, I did what any responsible golfer would do and bought new ones.

I got a full set of clubs I am trying to get rid of. Nice ones too. M2 driver, mizuno 850 forged jpx irons, ping glide wedges, scotty cameron golo that has been refinished. New scotty madador grip. It's a sweet putter. It looks like a stealth fighter. new titleist carry bag.
