Slow play in the game of golf is going to hurt the sport overall. Whenever I play lately, it's never a 4-4.5 hour round anymore, it's always 4.5+...sometimes 6 hours. I live in a golf community in NE Georgia (Reunion for anyone familiar with the area) and regardless if I play on Wednesday at 1pm or Saturday/Sunday it's always 4.5 hrs+. Even at courses in the area, Cheateau Elan which has 36 holes is risky on a weekend.

Course isn't being managed properly.

My Saturday morning round is a little under 4.5 hours. Occasionally it will be a little longer.

Most courses that I play average well below 5 hours.

6 Hour round. frick that. I would have to be into my second case before finishing and it wouldn't be worth hitting the ball by then.

I walked 27 today with a lunch and lesson in just over 7 hours.

The 18 is 6400 and 137 slope. We walked 18 in about 3:15. Of course it was not crowded.

The weekends I usually leave after 9. I’m too use to playing fast so a 4 hours round seems LONG!

President’s Day was bad. I played the first hole, made a quad, flicked a few cigs at some fat old bankers, and left.

If you have 5+ hour rounds that means it is busy... and therefore golf isn't hurting in your particular community and course.

However, it confounds me how it can take that long. I played Monday on a holiday and finished 18 plus lunch in 3.5 hours; in a foursome.

Lining up 3-4 putts on every hole takes time. Multiply that by 4-5 guys with white belts on and there’s 5 hours.

I also notice an increased Asians which I’m sure has something to do with it.

My normal round is 3.5-4 hours. However, my wife is under the impression it takes 5-6 hours. I would like it to stay that way

Well, you’ve got to build in time for the captains to pick and you have to wait to count up the money and stuff.

Six hours is insane. I played one round that long in my life on may bachelor trip but I had 12 guys all teeing off in foursomes and they were all wasted.

I walked 18 with a buddy the other day in three.

I like to play fast, but damn man I’m not trying to be back at the house that quick. At least enjoy your lunch next time.

Ideally my round would be 3.5 hours and then 2 hours boozing / eating.

Even a slow round takes less time than many other hobbies. Fishing and hunting are all day and sometimes multiple days.

We average a 4 hour round on a slow day.

people bragging about 4.5 hr rounds ...

you're not professionals ... it doesn't matter if you hit a 5 or a 6 iron ...

Any $50 course on a Sat-Sun morning is easily 4.5-5 hours in Houston.

How many minutes do they put between tee times?

I feel like that can be a problem sometimes (if they don't give enough time).

That wasn't including the post round drinks... that was actual playing time + burgers at the turn.

A well managed coursed makes the difference

1. Make the group pick up and go to the next shot

2. Second warning make the group pick up and go to the next hole

3. Third warning, keep their name in the system, do not allow them to play for 6 months

Unfortunately for those who do not belong to a private Club this is a Hugh problem. Members in my club know better

I am a witness
