I know it is close to gulf shores, and close to destin. But what is the best course close to Pensacola beach. Would rather not drive an hour if I don’t have to.

The best around there is Pensacola Country Club by far. That area of Florida is scarce for good golf. Close to the beach the best is Tiger Point. I haven't played there in a few years but I would say it's ok at best.

The course on the Navy base is better than average and is a fun course.

The best around the beach is The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre. Tiger Point is “tired”.

I always enjoyed Tiger Point’s layout but conditions are hit and miss.

Hidden Creek seemed to always be in better shape but not as fun of a layout.

I'll agree that Tiger Point is tired but Hidden Creek is, in my opinion, not very good. Clubhouse is nice but that's about it.

Lots of great golf around P'Cola - PCC, Lost Key and Hidden Creek are very nice. Will need to check on course conditions and fees. Public courses are good too - Marcus Pointe, Perdido Bay, Tiger Point and AC Read are all good layouts. Many of the courses on the coast are aerifying right about now so check on the course conditions before you play.

Osceola Municipal is an incredibly fun course to play for cheap. Probably not in the best shape and perhaps a little crowded, but there are some super fun holes and tricky green complexes out there. I also try to find courses with some history as opposed to whatever recent development course is nearby.

Played Hidden Creek Tuesday and today. Course was in very good shape, although they topdressed the greens with sand today. Rolled a little slower. Very uncrowded.

I played Tiger Point this morning. Not all that impressed. It’s a fun layout and pretty forgiving but the greens are still recovering from a fungus they had (so I’m told). Lots of black dirt patches on greens. Bunkers are terrible. Fairways are decent. If you just want to play a quick stress free round it’s ok. But definitely near the bottom of gulf coast courses imo, and I’ve played everything from gulf shores to Panama City.
The pro told me they are punching next week FYI. Also the range was closed when I got there for my tee time (8:00) because they were mowing it, thanks for the heads up. I hate that.
