I had the absolute pleasure of playing Mystic Creek yesterday afternoon/evening. It was only my 2nd time playing the course but it was even more beautiful and picturesque than I remember. Despite it being miserably hot, I still enjoyed myself.

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment. Do yourself a favor and get to Southern Arkansas and play this hidden gem. It's a bit pricey these days ($150ish) but it's well worth it.

Enjoy!

Hardest course I have ever played, but I can't wait to go back!

I really think it’s as close to Augusta as I’ll ever get to play. Great track and very challenging!

One of the hardest courses I’ve ever played. Beautiful as well. It’s tough. I feel like a 5 hc would have to shoot a good round to break 90 there.

Mystic Creek is the golfing equivalent to a beautiful woman that just teases you until you leave with a case of “blue balls.”

Beautiful course, but last I heard they had gotten pretty proud of it. What was the green fee?

$130 + cart fee. It was around $150ish.

Not bad for the level of course, just they used to be like $50 when they were still operating out of a trailer. Course was just as nice then.

Sounds like they’ve got enough members, they’re trying to keep the riff raft out.

My Dallas buddy and I have been in talks about meeting there and playing for a weekend. Do you know if they have loop/replay rates?

I don't but they are super laid back. If you finish up around 5 or 6, I doubt they’d make you pay to go back out.

Go check out the stay and play packages they have ..its pretty good deal for 2nites and 2 rounds of golf! Back in 2018-2019 I was paying twilight rate of 40 after 3 and 65 before 3 ..don't forget to play 1 tee forward from where your handicap is established...if your going to pay $150 you might as well not be frustrated.

If you & your friends make the trip go to Howells BBQ & get the smoked burger.

I think I heard they have hosted the Sunbelt tournament out there before? Just out of curiosity, I wonder what kind of number a NCAA caliber golfer or pro would shoot? The course is awesome but frustrates the shite out of me. I guess mainly because I haven’t played it enough to know how to work approach shots into those greens. Damn good shots often get penalized. I played out there last Summer when I was playing decent golf for me anyway. Probably was a 11 at the time. I sniffed breaking 90 lol.

It's really important to play the correct tees. I'm a 6/7 and I played the green tees (2 ups) at around 6700 yards. I shot 83 but admittedly played pretty well outside of a few errant tee shots and a few errant approach shots. Those green complexes can be very tricky and if you don't hit it in the right spot, it makes 2 putting difficult.

This actually burned me. I hit it through some of the doglegs.

I would love to go back and have another shot at it

It's a player's course for sure. Need to be able to spin the ball to go pin seeking.

Heading there for a tournament at the end of august and I am PUMPED!! Absolutely cannot wait to get back out there! Last year, showed up just a tad hungover on the tournament day, started on 10 and made 6 straight triples. Shot 54-43 to break 100 and was damn proud of it!

How fast are the greens right now? When we played the tournament last year they had just punched em the Monday of that week so they weren’t as fast as we had heard they were.

I have played there probably a dozen times. Beautiful piece of land and fun to play, even if it kicks your arse. I am a 5 and have shot anywhere from 78-88. Hit it straight and you have a chance.

Unless they punch between now and then, you won't have to worry about them being slow this time.....

Good luck!
