My buddy and I just got back from a golf trip in Miami. The wives came, so we had to go to a place that had good golf and was a destination for them. We played 3 courses and I’d recommend all of them for different reasons.

First we played Miami Shores. It rained, so we were only able to play the back 9 as it drained way better than the front. But it was still a really fun, and inexpensive course. The standard price is $75, and it outperformed that. Greens were well kept and true. Lots of creativity around the course. It was close to where we stayed, so it was a no-brainer for our first day (travel day). But I would’ve traveled 30 minutes for that course at that price.

The next day we played Silver Fox at Doral. It was extremely well kept and stunning. For the price ($250), it was a bit of a reach. Service at and around the clubhouse was phenomenal, but on the course it was lacking (no water stations, 1 cart person, etc.). But, it was a very fun course for all handicaps. Very challenging, but rewarded good shots. Narrow fairways with lots of water. And again, extremely well kept.

Lastly we played at the Biltmore (Soffer Course). This was our favorite course. For $137 (I believed they raised the rates the day after we played for non-Miami residents), it was wonderful. My buddy and I are admittedly Donald Ross fans, and he didn’t disappoint. It was creative and allowed for fun shots, while rewarding good ones. The greens were very fair, yet challenging. All approach shots offered unique challenges. You had to really think about each shot, which was fun even as amateurs. For the value, it was incredible. We kept saying that it felt like a course that just appeared in nature (lots of native trees/vegetation, natural water, great views and wildlife). It was also in coral gables, which had a lot to offer as a city.

Anyway, just passing along if anyone travels there.
