I think they should cancel all of the “legacy” passes and start completely over with a pure lottery. It’s complete bullshite the way it’s done now. Augusta is more than happy to pocket cbs and espn dollars as the “little people” are glued to the tv, but not to the point of making regular round tickets accessible.

The pass owners are a dying breed and I don’t think they are handing any more out. I think they are expanding the lottery as passes go away.

I can’t see them taking existing passes away until the pass holder/spouse dies.

Why should a legacy pass holder forfeit something they’ve been paying for for years cause a “little people” wants to go once? I’d like greater accessibility as well, but I’m not in favor of “taking” anyone’s ticket away just so I can go.

You sound like AOC. Take the rich guys stuff so I can have some. frick that.

Not proposing a tax, fool. The super bowl, works series, final four, etc. all make tickets available to anyone. Not saying it’s cheap, but those tickets are accessible. You make my point for me. Why should the masters tickets be someone’s to ‘take’ in the first place????? Think about it.

First of all, that’s not what you said. You said the legacy holders should have their passes cancelled. You’re not “taxing” them by making them pay extra for the pass. You want them to lose their ticket because you think that will free up more spots. So you suggested that they lose their spot so you can have one.
The same as saying take Flowmasters money and give it to someone else who doesn’t have any. I guess you think that’s fair.

Not even close. A small percentage of these tickets are available. Most are given out by corporate sponsors or sold after.

First Masters I’ve missed in three years. Usually get passes from Club Carowned by ingersoll rand.

I'm sure the board is relieved that you voiced your opinion and will act immediately to appease you.

Yea, let’s take the one last pure fan atmosphere in sports and turn it into one giant sales call.

I spent a few days there this week. It was my first time and I don’t want it to change. It was everything I expected it to be. I’ve been lucky enough to attend a Super bowl and a couple of national championship games. Nothing can compare. It is so not corporate. It’s a large number of people that are ecstatic to be on the grounds. I saw smiles on patrons entering the gate with tears in their eyes. People may look at it as a bunch of rich snobs watching golf but it’s so much more.
One thing I did notice was nothing, except for the peter Millard polos, had any markings letting you know who made them. All merchandise had masters tags. All the food was in a Masters package. They didn’t have any signage with miller lite, Stella, blue moon, sprite or Coke.
I may never step foot on Augusta National again, but I wouldn’t change the way fans get tickets. If you’re lucky enough to have the income to purchase tickets on the secondary market, do it. You will never regret it. If you don’t, enter the lottery. I know a few people who have won tickets so there is a chance you might.

Another thing to consider. When you go to the actual Masters tournament (not a practice round), you are not using a "ticket", but a Masters pass, that is passed on from year to year. If you do anything wrong to have the pass taken away, you lose it forever, so you're not losing one year's access, but also future access. So the pressure is greater to behave, and the penalty is greater for misbehaving.

You’re right. You won’t have people yelling baba booey after a tee shot. My wife on Wednesday saw Rory on 7 and said “hello Rory” in the worst English accent ever. I know he’s from Northern Ireland. That’s what made it funny. The Marshall, who was standing beside her when she said it, looked at her and shook his head. He messed with her for a few seconds. We talked to him and he said it’s pleasant not to deal with stupid people who don’t appreciate the game. He joked with her about making her leave. She told him she’d driven too far to leave. I’ve never seen a more well behaved group of fans

I swear to God, I wish they would expel the idiots that yell after a shot. I’m at home and I find it excruciatingly irritating. Can’t imagine being there. I picture these assholes in Jorts and PFG fishing shirts. Starched.
If you can’t embrace the decorum of the venue, don’t go. Plenty of municipal courses for you to participate on. Don’t try to drag everyone else down to your level.

I went Thursday-Sunday in 2016; by Sunday, I was a little worn out. I was sitting in the grass behind #10 green, and I laid back for a ten minute catnap. The Marshall came over and made me sit up. Not allowed. He didn't say why, but I'm guessing they don't want people to look like they're passed out drunk on TV.
