Will be here this weekend and looking to play. Best public course to play in the area? Golf Now is just showing the following in a 50 mile radius:

The Links of Madison County
Bay Pointe Resort
Pete Brown Golf Facility

Deerfield is probably your best bet

Never played the Links. Bay Pointe is pretty nice but very tight. Stay the hell away from Pete Brown. I’d try to get on at Deerfield, or look up the three Randy Watkins courses around Jackson. Give them a call and see if you can get on as an out of town visitor. Also, you’ll have no problems getting on at Canton CC. It’s a decent layout. Good luck

Had an invite to play in the M/G last weekend and really hated to turn it down because it was my daughter’s birthday. I am hoping the same member invites me next year as Reunion is a really nice course.

Technically just north of Madison, but what kinda shape is Lake Caroline in? Played in a Web.com qualifier out there a half dozen years ago, and always did like the course.

Haven’t played Caroline in a while but it’s usually in decent shape, just crowded.

Deerfield, Lake Caroline, Whisper Lake and Canton CC are all in that area and in great shape. Deerfield is my favorite. If you can get on Reunion or Annandale would be a treat, but will need a member. Bay Pointe and Patrick Farms are in Brandon/Pearl but accessible and in good shape also. PF just had their club championship as did LC.

Sounds like Deerfield may be the consensus. Assuming I can call up and book a tee time? I’m not a member anywhere so I can’t get a Pro to get me on the exclusive places.
