Yeah.
Got cancer, beat it.
It came back. He beat it again and in time to see his daughter's birth.
It unexpectedly came back for a 3rd time and he gave it a go but ended up deciding to stop the fight.
He passed about 30 minutes ago.

May his family find peace and comfort in this time of sadness. RIP Mr. Lyle.

Just damn. Feel so bad for his wife and little girls. I’m so glad they were at least able to spend his last days together.
The Tour’s done a great job raising money for them so far.

Yeah the tour is doing everything they can to help. Awesome to see that.
As horrible as it has to be, I'm sure the family had ample time to come to peace with the inevitable end that was to come. Obviously I'm not in their shoes, but I assume it makes someone feel more at ease when they get to say everything they need to say in these situations.

Unfortunately, I can vouch for this being true. I lost my dad to cancer about a decade ago and we could pretty much see the end coming a couple weeks out, and then a doctor in the hospital checked his vitals one morning and told us that that day was going to be the day. We had been preparing for it mentally and spent the last day at his bedside. It is still the most God-awful day of my life, but we all got to say what we wanted to say and there was a sense of closure, plus he was not suffering any more, which made it slightly easier. It sounds like Lyle put up one hell of a fight and I am sure his family told him it was ok to pass on.
Horrible situation, but I would much rather lose a loved one this way than to get an unexpected phone call saying they had died in a crash or something.
