I play April through October and any other time where it is at least 60 degrees (maybe a little less if there is no wind, but in Kansas that is hardly ever). I love playing in the summer. Back muscles loosen up easier, courses are less crowded in hot weather, harder ground helps my lack of length in my game.

In high school I once played in a tournament where the temperature was 33 degrees and it sleeted all day. 18 hole tournament that did not get shortened despite the weather. F that ever again. If I wanted to feel miserable after playing a sport for four and a half hours I would play tennis.

Apparently not. Off and on rain today in Birmingham with some downpour. I drove by Mountain Brook CC and there were about 10 carts out there.
Anyone that knows that course knows its in a creek bottom. The ground is more than saturated.

If I didn’t have my daughter with me all day today, I would’ve played. A little rain ain’t gonna stop me. I just have to get creative with the touch shots. Wedges will dig

I will play during the heat of the summer, but only starting around 5:30-5:45 on the June-August days when you can go til 8:00

My game usually goes dormant during the winter. I sometimes go 3 months without playing...not by plan, but that's just how it works out. I have more stuff to do that takes away from the time I have to play and I just don't like playing in the cold.

I also don't do rain or a course that is really wet. I just don't enjoy going out and hacking up a course with my irons...it's like I need a dump truck following me around to put sand in my divot marks.

I care way more about the wetness of the course than the temp.

I'd rather play on a 100 degree or 45 degree day then a wet sloppy course.

It's the cold weather that shuts me down. I like to tell people I play golf in the low to mid 60's. Any colder than that and I stay home

I don’t enjoy golf all that much when it’s cold, and as I get older it takes even longer to get loose in cold weather. The heat doesn’t really bother me. My golf clubs usually don’t get touched outside a random heat wave from mid November until late March. Also not all that easy to play much when it gets dark at 5:00

A huge problem for LSU and BREC courses is this. The places are ghost towns for too much of the year. They are also empty during many Monday - Thursdays even during peak golf season. (outside of maybe SM)

I don't think it is all weather. LSU Sports, Hunting, Fishing are big activities in Louisiana.

The main reason I started this thread was because I noticed how jam packed Santa Maria is during the spring, and the couple of times I went during mid summer, the place was near empty, and that was a Friday afternoon

I'll play golf in almost any weather imaginable outside risk of death.

However I tend to play worse in below 70 degree temperatures than above. The warmer it is the better I play the colder it is the worse I play. Idk why
