I have been using the same decrepit Titleist putter I bought at walmart about 15yrs ago. I want to get a new putter. I have checked some out in the local stores, I don't really remember which ones. But they all sort of feel the same to me. I am thinking that maybe I could just regrip my current one and just use it. I don't dislike it, but I feel I could do better.

What do you look for when you are looking for a new putter? What should I look for. Obviously price is a factor. I don't feel i need to drop 3 bills on one. But I don't want to be a tight wad and go cheap. I just want to get a good putter, that will last, and be helpful.

I guess the same sort of goes for Irons. I plan to upgrade those soon. I currently have some KZG irons I got fitted for way back. I want to upgrade those, but I have to get fitted. I am too tall for standard length clubs.

You bought a Titleist putter at Walmart? Wow. They have let their golf equipment slip since then.

Go get fitted for an Edel putter, you won’t regret it.

You know what, now that I think about it. It's a Top Flight putter. Not a titleist. My mistake.

So what were you looking for when you were testing different putters? It's not like you can test drive one for an entire round before you buy. So what were your determining factors?

length, loft, alignment, weight, toe-balanced or not, etc...

someone mentioned getting fitted for Edel earlier and id recommend this as well.. you would be surprised what just alignment lines on a putter can make. whether it would be 3 center dots, 3 lines, no line, & etc.

You have 1 decision to make first blade or mallet.

From there, the options are limitless. I would suggest getting fitted. The right length putter makes a huge difference.

I highly recommend Ping putters. I switched as have many in my golf group. We are all liking the change.

Go to Nevada Bob's and have them hook you up to their stroke machine. It analyzes your putting stroke and recommends what style of putter you need.

Go from there and find one that you like to look and feel good putting with.

I did test drive it lol

I had a lot of trouble with alignment and it really helped with that. Really solid, hard to mishit like a blade and not too heavy. Good putter from 6 feet in and for longer putts as well

The only club you'll use on every hole is the putter... but for most, its the only club that offers little forgiveness or tech.

Find a putter that gives you some form of game enhancing performance.

SeeMore offer alignment help for directional consistency
Ping/Evnroll offer speed consistency with forgiving face
Scotty offers resale consistency so that when go to sell it, it's got value.

Try to find something more than simply resale consistency.

Well I can tell you two things i know for sure.
My swing and stance is about as erratic and inconsistent as it can be.
I was told that several of the irons are not the correct length.

I am 6'5 and got these clubs taylored at a place in Lafayette that is no longer open. I have never really hit these irons solid since I got them. It could be due to the clubs not being the right length, it's also due to my swing. You know that feeling when you make perfect contact, and you don't really feel the ball make contact with the club head? I've never had that feeling with these clubs. When I got some lessons at the farm years ago, the instructor told me several needed new shafts at the right length. I never got them changed. I just didn't have the time or money to invest because of kids, etc.

So long story short, i don't know what to think of them. Part of me says they are crap, but so is my game. Next set I get, I am getting them fitted by a friend of mine in town, who is a custom club fitter. He appears to be pretty good too. Might get him to fit me for a putter too.
