Where do you aim the leading edge when getting ready for a shot?
What is your routine?

Pick a spot 10 inches in front of my ball in line with my target. Then proceed to hook it 30 yards left with a 7 iron.

Stand behind ball, pick a spot on the ground a foot or so in front of the ball in line with where I want to hit it, stand over ball and aim the clubface at the spot in on the ground in front of the ball that I chose, then swing away

I get a couple steps behind the ball and find my target. Then I look for an intermediate target. I address the ball with the club in my right hand and aim the face at my intermediate target. Step in with the right foot first, then the left. Add the left hand.
Takeaway. Backswing. Transition. Hump the goat. Save it with the hands. Thin it a little. Club twirl.

I have that shot perfected.

Guy I play with looks at the target, picks his line, and never looks at the target again, even as he is getting in his stance.

Stand behind ball.
Pick a spot a few feet in front.
Visualize the shot.
Address ball.
Immediately not trust line.
Turn a little left...or right...
Hit ball.
Watch it go in that general direction.
And not where I initially had lined up and targeted.

I get a few feet or more behind my ball. Hold up my club vertically so that the shaft covers the ball on the straight line I want to hit it. Move the club slightly to also see something just a few inches in front of the ball on that same line. Walk up to my ball and aim at that intermediate target on my line and fire

Hey, you stole my putting routine!

Choose my line and pick a spot a few feet in front of me and square my club face to it first, then address the ball.

Stand about 12'-15' behind the ball. Take a drink of beer. Tap my club a couple times on the ground. Take another quick drink and a deep breath. Place beer on ground and walk up to address ball. Forget my alignment and hope I have it close. Take a swing.
I had a old GF back in college that used to say golf should be re-named "whack-a-frick" because that's what you usually hear.
