I just can’t imaging being able to play a PGA Tour stop course for $50-$60 on the weekend.

Torrey Pines resident fees are around that amount.

It was also announced that the green fees will stay the same once it reopens. I just can’t imaging being able to play a PGA Tour stop course for $50-$60 on the weekend.

You'd be surprised at how not nice a lot of course they play are

I hope they add back some of the trees around the perimeter of the course.

I've never played Memorial so I can't say definitely, but a lot of times trees take away from a golf course. Over treeing is a terrible problem in American golf.

That's not the case for these trees. They were mostly out of play, and would definitely be out of play for the pros. They mainly surrounded the peripheral of the property and blocked off views and sounds from the streets and trails, both of which have a ton of traffic in Memorial Park.

Difficult enough to get a tee time there now, will be much worse after the changes.

Glenbrook shut down to become some flower park, Gus Wortham got a face lift.

So that will leave Gus and Sharpstown as the only city courses

Edit: Hermann also. duh. and Brock (which Ive never heard of)

Again, i haven't seen them so I don't know, but wouldn't that he bad for having a tour event there? You need a good deal of room for spectators

There are plenty of wooded, narrow, tree-lined courses that host tour events.

THere is still a tree line that separates the course from the running trial (several thousand people run that thing all day everyday), its just gotten thinner than the past

Working in Houston golf I get why the mayor wants it in Houston but I still think Memorial is going to be an epic disaster. Nothing to do with Doak but be realistic how many THOUSANDS of people use Memorial daily or weekly for events other than golf? Walking the dog, jogging, tennis, whatever...you going to close a city park to them for a week?
