This guy very well could have committed suicide, like so many young men in this country.

Yet we’re debating vaccines on the golf board.

Get it together

Grayson Murray
Saw him get a spectator kicked out of the Players Championship this year. Dude had bet his buddy 5 bucks Grayson would miss the putt, then celebrated when he missed it. Grayson screamed at the guy and had the officials kick him and his buddy out of the entire tournament.

watching that video of his last putt yesterday when he decided to withdraw. just incredibly sad.

reminds of me Anthony Bourdain, when he once said 'i wish I could be happy. I should be happy. I'm just not. I ordered a hamburger recently in the airport. it wasn't a good one. Suddenly i'm spiraling down to the deepest darkest place and I stay there for days. it's hard to explain'.

depression is a mean mfk'er. rest in peace...

Just based on Grayson’s views. He was pretty openly right-wing on Twitter and had stated before he was not planning on getting vaccinated.

Regardless, his parents came out and said it was a suicide. A truly awful situation.

Living as a professional golfer is a bitch of a way to make a living. Pair that career with mental health issues and the pressure is insane.

We fans see the life style of the top dozen players. Grayson was a 2x winner and his exemptions were stacked - but he still battled demons.

Never do we know the sadness, pain and struggles of even our close friends and loved ones….and when we find out, it is usually too late.

The pain and struggle is overwhelming at times.

This makes me wonder if it truly was suicide or an accident, if this is in fact how he passed. A guy I know from high school was living in an RV and passed away from Carbon Monoxide, but it was an accident and not suicide.

Based on the fact that he withdrew the day before after bogeying 3 straight holes, telling John Peterson that week he was facing some demons, and his past history with depression, I think it’s fair to assume he took his own life.

His parents said that was the case, and it is entirely possible he left a note that understandably would not go to the public.

You’ve gotta be in a really bad headspace and committed if you’re doing it that way. While it’s painless, you’ve gotta sit there for what, probably 30 minutes or an hour knowing what you’re doing?

According to Monahan, any player making more than $500,000 will, obviously, accrue all the money they earn. And any player who comes up short of $500,000, the tour at the end of the year will pay the difference.

"Typically, 215 to 220 golfers are fully exempt during the PGA Tour season. The tour is confident the majority of those players will surpass the $500,000 threshold. For that reason, Monahan said it was estimated the program would cost the tour between $2 million and $3 million to implement.

During the 2021-22 season, 163 players earned more than $500,000 on tour."

I know they have expenses, but they also have a lot of sponsor dollars.
