Shaft is a stiff NS. PRO Modus3 Tour 105. Head will be Srixon ZX5 although im having second thoughts and thinking about doing a combo set with the ZX7. The goal is long-term growth so I think some workability for the future may be worth it even if it results in some temporary playability issues.

For a high end steel like that not really needed.

I had mine pured. There has to be some benefit to it. There’s tons of demos out there that show the positive. I’m sure there’s a few that try to disprove or actually do as well but in the end it was a few extra bucks on a pretty splurge type purchase. So why not?

I played my first round this past Sunday and I can’t explain the joy on my face with the results I saw from my irons. It may just be a placebo effect but I’m sold on every bit of what I purchased.

If you had a good swing you’d already be puring it anyways. Good luck paying thousands of dollars to lower your handicap though. Shmole

I looked into it and most golfers wont ever notice difference between pured shafts vs non. It makes a difference for a swing robot though. Humans aren't consistent enough to see the benefits.

You can work the X5s just fine. Your miss hits with those X7s are going to penalize the shite out of you. Just stick with the X5s all the way through. There is a reason you were fit into X5s

If you have to play good golf to put food on the table for your family, go ahead and get the shafts pured.

Wrong. It’s not as bad as you may otherwise be lead to believe. Especially with combo set running zx7 in the mid to short irons

The place I got my driver from allegedly pures the shafts when they build the clubs. I couldn't tell you the difference from my previous driver. Not sure I even know how to tell the difference.

There was no charge so whatever. I wouldn't pay for it. I assume I'm not good enough, if it is a legit improvement at all.

My fitter told me there is not a huge difference from the x5 to the x7. He said it is much more subtle than other brands jump from players distance to players. The top lines are identical so its hard to even tell at address. Still on the fence of doing a 5-7,8-attack split.

I'll be getting the 7 line up next Srixon irons I buy. I think they're similar as the i210 series in terms of forgiveness.

Pretty sure that steel shafts don't have a spine, so why would you Pure them ?

You may be completely correct. I had never heard of puring before yesterday which is why I asked. It was offered by the fitter though.

The engineers at Ping will tell you that puring is a myth.

I think it is a myth too .

The old graphite shafts use to have a big spine and club fitters tried to line it up.

Funny thing was is that some fitters put them east and west and others put them north and south.

The quality graphite shafts today are manufactured to stricter tolerances.
