Golf Trip Pics: Robert Trent Jones in Birmingham, Alabama
Spent Labor Day weekend over in Birmingham to play a few of the RTJ courses and Farmlinks at Pursell Farms. The pics posted below are all from RTJ: Oxmoor Valley, Oxmoor Ridge, Ross Bridge, and the last photo is the signature hole #5 Par 3 at Farmlinks. Highly recommend this trip as the courses were amazing. I'm glad Ross Bridge was our last round since it was in the best shape (not that the others were not in good shape) and had the best track and views. We stayed at a local Air BnB which was decent enough for the 7 of us, but in the future I'd probably stick with a stay and play at Ross Bridge.

Been trying to find a good golf trip, do you mind me asking how much the whole trip ended up costing y’all? The trail looks like a good spot for my birthday weekend

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing.

It’s been 15+ years since I’ve played any of the RTJ courses. I need to make a trip back down there.

The Air BnB cost was right under $2K for 7 guys and 4 nights. The 3 RTJ courses were I think $220-$250. The stand alone Farmlinks course was around $110.

Played there last October. Beautiful courses. Did y’all stay at the Renaissance? It was lovely as well.

I’d highly recommend it to anyone.

Edit: whoops missed the part about your accommodations. The resort is as nice as the course.

How were the greens at Ross Bridge? I played it earlier this spring with some buddies on a bachelor party, and the greens looked good but were super slow. I was blown away with the layout and overall condition but disappointed with the greens.

They were great. It rained a good amount the two weeks prior to us being there so the greens were very soft and very easy to get a shot to stick. I never really got a grasp on any of the greens on the 4 courses we played

When they looked fast they played slow, and then when I hit it hard to compensate for that it ended up rolling 4 feet past the hole.

My scores ranged from 84-90, but I left a lot of putts out there with horrible reads. I think the greens there warrant you walking around to see every angle and the different slopes.

Looks nice but I only play golf when there are young beautiful caddies

I really enjoyed Farmlinks and Ross Bridge on our trip. RTJ Trail is underrated IMO. Can't wait to play Grand National.

Add silver lakes to list. Gets the least play. Great shape and great course.

I played Ross Bridge and Farmlinks about 10yrs ago, maybe less. The experience at Farmlinks was second to none. I’m a lawn/grass freak and to see the different grasses they use and the areas of research they were doing really made it interesting for me beyond golf. Not sure if they still do that. For instance, on the first hole between the green and the cart part, they had 8 squares marked off probably 4yds x 4yds where they were doing a shaded zoysia study to see which type performed the best. They had a placard telling you what was growing in each square. Another hole had a different type of grass on each tee box. Very interesting course.
