Golf in Memphis
Any suggestions? Headed there this weekend before heading to the basketball game in Oxford.

I've played Mirimichi. It's good, but not memorable. I'm not familiar with anything better open to the public though.

You won't have a bad time and it has some nice features with a creek running through it, but don't expect to go somewhere incredible.

re: Golf in Memphis
Wedgewood and Cherokee were both in EXCELLENT shape when I played them last summer.

Wedgewood had some of the best greens i've ever played.

We played Mirimichi too. It was nice and had some pretty views but it wasn't anything special. I thought Wedgewood and Cherokee were both better values.

A friend that used to work in Memphis said Kirkwood is his favorite in that area and it is a little closer to Oxford in Holly Springs. We did not play it because it was farther from Memphis.

Jack Nicklaus designed and an absolutely pristine course. In Collierville not far outside of Memphis, it's like right there.

I think that is a private course isn't it?

I think you would need a member in your group to play there.
OP Is asking for advice in the area so I doubt he is a member.

Usually on public courses there is a rate sheet and/or a place to book a tee time.

This site has neither which is why I suspect it is private.
Looks like a really nice course though. Wish I could play it.

It’s the most expensive country club in the city. It’s 100% private

All the public courses in the Memphis area are trash except Mirimichi. I’d recommend going to North MS if you can’t get on a private course.

Give them a call, it can't hurt. I was able to play it with my dad and a few of his customers, stayed the night. I really don't think it's private however, it very well could be someone was a member that allowed for us to play it.

Plan B: sneak in somewhere in the back of the course and act like you belong.

re: Golf in Memphis
So what I’m gathering is that I should play a course closer to Oxford. Leaning towards the one in Holly Springs.

Kirkwood was closed due to lots of rain.

Playing The Ole Miss course tomorrow. Temperatures today didn’t get past 40. Tomorrow should be a bit better conditions.
