That awesome that it’s free now. I haven’t played there in close to 20 years, I’m sure anyone who grew up in the area played it a lot learning the game as a kid. I can still remember one time on #8 I perfectly bladed a SW that took off like a 3 iron. It cleared Masonic and hit the funeral home across the street, but thankfully not on a window.

I played Oakwing a few weeks ago for their Deep South Fourball and it was in great shape, especially the greens

We played the front 9 at Links. Went home after 9 because the kids were ready to get back and swim.

I’ve gotta say it’s a pretty incredible spot for being a muni course.

I’d put it on par with Wetlands if not a little better. Of course I only played the front nine but that was my impression walking away.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We did drive by Oakwing on the way back and that’ll be the next spot we play. Sans kids.

You missed out, the back nine is better IMO

It's certainly more interesting.

The original design had them flipped.

The safe play is to take 3 wood and bounce it off the clubhouse

Used to be hundreds of pampas grass located around the course. For some reason they removed most of them. Was taking a wiz next to one and saw a snake hiding, waiting for one of those red winged black birds for dinner. It sucked to hit into one, pretty much automatic drop with stroke added on.
