Etiquette on going for the green

in two on a par 5 or reachable par 4. Or hell even teeing off on any par 4 or 5 with a group in front of you.
I’m a 12 hdcp and decently long hitter, I won’t throw any numbers out to not derail this thread (350), but am inconsistent accuracy wise. Let’s say I’ve hit a good drive on a par 5 and I’m waiting for the green to clear before hitting my second and a group is behind me. It’s a makeable shot but I’ll actually pull it off 1/10 times. If I wait and then hit it fat and don’t reach the group behind me gets pissed. If I don’t wait and hit a good shot the group on the green would be pissed. What is proper in this type of situation?
A. Wait and go for it regardless of result
B. Hit into the people on the green so you don’t hold the people behind you up. Then apologize when you put it on there
C. Lay up like a nerd to not make anybody mad
I’m talking about a shot that can truly be made here. I’ve seen plenty of people waiting for a green to clear when it’s obvious they could never pull off the shot and I’ve been guilty of it myself.
I vote A. Play your own game

You should play for position instead if you are only hitting the green 1/10 on your par5 second shot.

Obviously a joke
Would you rather me say 240?

If there isn’t much trouble around the green, then that number is still fine. Better to be in fairway or short rough 30 yards away than 150 yds away in the fairway.

240? And going for the green? Here’s my advice: stop playing the lady’s tees.

According to another thread the average male golfer hits his driver 215. I’d say 240 is plenty long

The answer is A. What looks bad is when a guy just hit a drive 220 yds and he’s waiting for the green to clear that’s 260 yds away and then he chunks it. If the numbers are reversed, it’s more understandable because at least you know the guy has the distance in him.

Wait.
I may get a little agitated playing behind people waiting for the green to clear on an unmakeable shot, but I'll get over it. If you hit into me I'm going to get pissed and confront you about it. If you hit me with a ball you will have a lot more problems than you'll want to deal with.
There is zero reason ever to hit into a group on a golf course.

At Bayou bend, unless it’s tipped out and/or the wind is really howling, you and I can reach every par 5 in 2. frick em, let em wait

In my opinion its always acceptable if you are capable of reaching the green. Depending on the situation if waiting on the tee on a par 4 is gonna stack everyone up then just lay it up and move along, but nobody should get worked up about a guy waiting to go for a par 5 if he has the distance to get there.

There is no reason to worry about the group behind waiting on you if it's only 2 or 3 holes in a round where something like this happens. If they're waiting on you or your group on every hole, then maybe you should figure out why.

150 yards away? You cant hit it any further than that?

Definitely A.
I’m no pro either. I play to about an 8 or 9. I refuse to risk hitting into people again after it’s happened a few times. I know my distances.
I once waited for people to clear the green on 15 at LSU before teeing off and a group came up on us. They had the “what the frick are you waiting for John Daly” look on their faces. It was downwind and I put it on thank God. I did not want to have to walk back to the cart after a duck hook. But it beats hitting into people.

If there is a group(s) in front of me that I cannot do anything about, I completely ignore the people behind me. I worry about my game and keeping up as fast a pace as possible.

A
Your place on the course is directly behind the group in front of you... not directly in front of the group behind you.
