Driving Irons - Tell me your experience and what brands you've enjoyed...

I do not hit my 3 wood…ever…and due to my length off the tee, I routinely choose to hit 3 iron. I enjoy the accuracy of it and still can get it 235-240 down the fairway. I’m just not very consistent with woods even with steel shafts, but trust my life with an iron.
For these reasons, I am considering a driving 1 or 2 iron. I hit the ball really high, even with the 3-iron and think I would like something that goes 260ish, with a low ball flight, and the accuracy of an iron.
Is a very low loft driving iron the answer here? Do they have iron “shapeability” and accuracy? What brands are good?

You are the target consumer for a driving iron.
Those driving irons help keep it down as compared to a hybrid.
I have only hit the Ping and liked it, but I prefer a 3W.

I think I may go to a place to try some out. I just haven't found the time.
I wonder how they play out of the fairway rough. I could see myself hitting par 5 approach shots with it as well.
ETA:
Basically I am looking for equipment that will create Tiger's stinger for me off the tee

I know a couple of guys that swear by them.

Srixon U65 is a gorgeous club.

I have a Titleist TMB 2-iron and I love it. Not hard to do a stinger at all as long as you hit down on it. I hit it just as far as my 3-wood and even on a miss hit it's not going OB.

This puppy might be calling my name, but I might look for a steel shaft.
I wish they had a 14 degree or something similar. Lowest is 17.

Essentially, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll check it out, thanks.

Can you bend it to maybe 15?

Yeah I might get my pro shop to see what they can do.
I also need to hit these options off some grass. I normally do club testing into hitting bays, but I need to feel what these irons will feel like on approach shots.
Gotta figure out where I can do that.

I play Mizuno MPH5 2 iron. Highly recommend. I love target golf and courses that require more thought than 14 drivers. I needed more distance than 3 iron so this was the logical step up. I play mizuno mp25's so it was an easy transition. You might be able to find a comparable 2 iron in your current iron set.

I have a Nike Slingshot 2 iron that's been in my bag for the last few years. Off the tee, I usually use it to play a small draw or 3 wood to play a slight fade. It's worked pretty well and is consistently in the 230-240 yard range

I've got this in the 2 iron with a Tour Ad Di and love it.

approach shots
When I hit stinger approach shots, it's cause I thinned my PW.

Right over the back of the green

We all know those shots.
I was more thinking of the 260-270 yard 2nd shots on par 5's with an open front of the green I can roll one up there. Not really getting this to go pin seeking and drop one on greens with no roll.
But usually just need it for the tee box. I love my new Sub-Zero driver, but I find myself preferring spot golf on more holes than I want to bring out the big dick on.

Taylormade recently added a driving iron to its P790 line. It looks like a blade, but it’s hollow body/foam filled. I think PXG is suing them for patent infringement over these clubs.

You may be surprised how you low you can flight a 17 degree iron, with the proper shaft. Can't imagine looking down at a 14 degree iron!

Very steep and hard swing. My 3 iron sometimes apexes like a 7 iron. Its the part of my game I really need to work on the most.
