It's not always nice to watch one of the big names miss what is being argued as the "closest missed putt in pga history"..... but it's kind of comforting when you miss the same putt on the weekend.

The gif in the tweet isn't working for me.

Found it on youtube. How in the world can you miss that putt?

Wow.

He left the face open and just pushed it left. We've all done that before, but probably not from 12 inches and certainly not in the US Open at Pebble Beach.

How often do ya'll putt out 1 foot putts, seriously? Amateurs would probably miss a shite ton of gimmes over the course of a year's worth of playing golf.

I always finish out holes, no gimmies. Maybe it's an OCD to me. I want closure on every hole.

Every time. If you are an amateur who wants to get better, putt it out. It makes you focus more on every shot. You must hit the fair way to be able to hit the green, so you can 2 putt par. That first putt becomes more important, because you’ll have to clean up.

Don’t get me wrong, a friendly round drinking beers and smoking cigars is fun. Hell take a mulligan, take the gimme, but to get better, you must putt it out.

I've been guilty of taking those as gimmes in the past but this year I've decided that if it's not right on the edge, I'm putting the thing in the cup. My putting has been my most improved part of my game this year which has been helping a lot with the score.
