I assume your asking about public courses. Beaver & Santa Maria are pretty nice from what I remember. Haven't played there in a year or so. If you make your way to Carter Plantation it has a nice practice facility as well.

If you want private CCL, UC are both very very nice.

Uclub has 4 holes just for practicing. I'd say that's going to be hard to beat.

Private:
UC
CCL
BRCC

CCL and BRCC seem similar to me, could be 2a and 2b.

Public:
Santa Maria
Beaver Creek
Carter

The Island (if it opens)
Pelican Point
Greystone
The Bluffs

Dumas/Clark
LSU
Webb
City Park
Copper Mill

SM, BC, and Carter are probably a wash. Carter is probably better, but considering it isn't actually in BR would bring it down.

Tier two is The Island, Pelican Point, Greystone, and The Bluffs and they would go in that order, imo, but they are all pretty close to each other in terms of being kind of Baton Rouge and style of range/facility.

Tier three is in that order because Dumas/Clark and LSU have a range, Webb has a half range, and City has no range, but has 60 yard wedge shot practice available. Copper doesn't have a range or short game facility, per se.

Santa Maria will be busy, Carter and BC will be less busy, if that's a factor for you. BR has no real good practice option or range.

Pretty good breakdown. As far as actual facilities I would consider Santa Maria a tier below Carter and Beaver. The practice greens and chipping areas are better at both Beaver and Carter.. and the driving range is larger. Santa also makes you hit off matts from time to time which sucks and as you mentioned it will be more crowded.

But the proximity to Baton Rouge trumps all of that in my opinion. If I’m gonna go practice I’m going to Santa Maria before I drive 40 minutes away.

I put beaver ahead of SM, but it is a little drive from BR

Webb has a half range

I called out there earlier this year to see if we could play 5, I heard this on the phone...
"Thank You for calling Webb Park, we now have a miniature driving range..."
I was laughing, then when we got out there, they are selling bags of range balls and have signs all around calling ti a miniature driving range, lol
