Are we going to ignore the change in 2022 PGA venue?Posted by jgoodw318

Just saw a “breaking news” on the golf channel that the PGA of America is terminating their agreement with Trump Bedminster to host the 2022 PGA Championship? Politics aside, this is getting pretty stupid.

Smart move. Trump does not have a ton of support amongst the PGA players and their fans. This is just knowing your audience

I don't think it is a done deal yet, but they are clearly in the process of moving it.
I'm actually on board with the move. You don't gain anything by going there, as it isn't a course that is typically held in high regard. You will have to answer questions the entire week you are there and leading up to it. That just takes away from the golf, imo.
Move it somewhere awesome and move on. No need to rush it. The news is out there already, so the PGA is getting the good pub that it wants. Just do it quietly now without a huge fanfare and it'll work just fine.
No one will be begging for Bedminster in 2022 if you get a good course lined up.

It makes the people that hate trump right now happy, and by the time the tournament comes around in 2 years trump will be a forgotten nobody and no one will remember that they vowed to boycott that event. Win/win for the pga

Not to mention your player base...I’d hazard a guess that well over half of PGA players are MAGA.

They probably voted for him but also don't care if the venue is moved.

Demographically speaking, apparently they do know their audience. He got killed in white suburbs with higher education levels...aka, where a lot of golf fans live.
I know this is a LA board so y'all may not exactly have your fingers on the pulse of "mainstream" America but this was a pretty easy call for the PGA to make.

Please don't bring your shitty takes to this board.

“White suburbs” really. All the country clubs I know are pro trump. Pull your head out your ass.

All the country clubs you go to are in south Louisiana, there are a lot of clubs in Blue states that think a little differently than your lafayette club.

Good to see you spread your nonsense out to many boards.

yeah I don't really care about this.
If the PGA championship is overshadowed by protests and politics that would bother me a lot more than this does.
I'm hoping they take it to Shoal Creek, or anywhere close enough to drive to

While I'm not on board with catering to a vocal minority of the population, they really don't lose anything by moving it now. maybe they were on the fence about moving it due to other circumstances and this was their out.
All in all, I don't hate the move but I understand it.
I told my wife the other night that within the next 3 months, Trump will probably be removed from any board that he is on and any business will cut ties with him publicly.
