Anyone ever tore ECU tendon in wrist?
Played the day after Christmas and felt a pop in my right wrist after hitting an 8 iron and had to quit the round due to pain when following through on swing. Finally got MRI for the diagnosis and also found a minor TFCC tear... both supposedly common golfer injuries. I need to be 100% in a month for a tournament. Anyone have any experience with this and how long before pain went away to the point you could swing 100%?

Right wrist?

Are you a lefty or righty?

I though this injury was most common is the left wrist of right handed golfers.

The injury is usually proceeded by use of equipment such as chainsaws and other hand held gas powered pieces of equipment.

Mid 40s is the age when the injury starts to populate on age charts.

5 weeks - you can go sooner but will need athletic tape or bandage for support and compression.

I injured my TFCC rock climbing and had to lay off golf for weeks. I could play through it with tape on my wrist, you could probably do the same if you REALLY need to play.

I had a similar injury before as well. Took a while before the pain went away completely. I was able to play in a couple weeks by wrapping my wrist though. It kept it stable enough to where the pain was minimal with some ibuprofen.

Yep, right wrist and I'm right handed. I tend to grip very tightly with right hand so I suspect that had a lot to do with it. When i felt the pop, I hit it fat but I do that a lot lol so not sure what was different this time. Maybe just a freak thing.

Still pretty tender in beginning of swing when you first cock your wrist backwards at initial point where you start backswing... it's hard to explain. Also during final rotation at follow through of swing

Think I could play through if just TFCC but seems the ECU is bigger and more painful tear. Bought something called a wrist widget which is specifically for TFCC and it doesn't seem to alleviate pain much swinging a club

Thanks. Did you injure your ECU or TFCC? I guess I'm asking more for ECU advice because that seems to be what's taking longer to heal or get to the point I can play without it being in my head

I'm a righty and I had an ecu tendon injury in my right hand in 2016-17ish.

It was bad. I couldn't play for a while. Took a couple months off (was miserable) then came back and it wasnt right. Injured again shortly.

.at that point I said frick it and played with my wrist wrapped in an ace bandage and a batting glove fastened tight over the bandage. Also too plenty of anti inflammatorys. It made me able to play.

After a few more months I was mostly back to normal.
