Anybody play a course and just have 1 side that whips your arse? If I could learn to play the front 9 at Bayou Bend in Crowley I could light that place up. I can birdie 1,2,9. The rest just fricks me up BAD! Like +8 in 6 hikes bad.

Anybody else have this problem? How to solve it?

Talk about a ho-hum golf course until 16. They aren't that hard of holes compared to every other golf course in town, but after 15 holes of hitting it around without fear, it sneaks up on you

Back of Webb is rough for me. I hate the tee balls on 11,12,and 14. Some funky greens and small greens. Can never seem to get the right club on 17. Just all in all a 9 I constantly struggle on.

I’m about 400 under par on the front and 3000 over par on the back at my course. And the front is the harder side...can’t figure it out for the life of me

Of courses that you might know that I’ve played a decent bit, the back nine at Valhalla just fricks me ten ways to Sunday even though it’s probably the easier side. The visuals on that side are really strange compared to the front.

The back nine at my home course is easier than the front - particularly the par 5’s - even though I’ve always played the back worse over the years. 16, 17, and 18 always give me buku problems for whatever reason. Probably a focus thing.

Most people say the back is harder at Bayou Bend, but I can torch it. There are only 2 hikes where I feel birdie is off the table.
The front is where others torch it and I can’t hit the broad side of a barn for 6 holes.

Usually horrible on first 3 at Muni. Frick #3, worst hole on the planet. Last time I played was -1 through 3. Shot 78. I torch the back in Crowley

for years I would go at it. Now, I hit 7/6i then a wedge. I can usually grab a birdie on 1. 2 ain’t bad either.

The “middle 9” at La Tour if you’ll give me a little lattidude...

6 is a brutal tee shot. Left or right is dead, layup and you’ve got a long iron into a green with trouble long left and right

Everyone talks about 5 because it’s so long, but 9 is way harder if you ask me. The tee shot is generous, but if you don’t hit it up the right side, you’ve got a mid to long iron over a huge bunker. Miss right, and you’re toast. If you do hit a perfect tee shot and have an angle, you’ve still got a mid to long iron with water right and a deep bunker left.

11’s tee shot isn’t tight, but again, it’s dead left and the fairway bunkers make the hole an all but certain bogey

12 takes my best tee shot to have a manageable second, all carry to a shallow green with water short, native areas left, right and long. Miss the fairway even a little, with the rough the way it is, and you’re laying up short of the canal.

13 takes two really good shots to be over the cross hazard in 2

14 is a mid to long iron to an Island green and it’s usually the windiest spot on the golf course

I’d gladly take +7 for that stretch of holes every time I played and try to score on the other 9 holes on the course.

If you’re strictly limiting me to a scorecard 9 holes, I’ll go with the back 9. 11-14 wrecks my round more often than not.

10 seems like some relief in middle of all of that. Yet I continue to shite the bed on that hole.

This is a great example honestly.

Back 9 at the National in Westlake always has my number it seems like. I don't think I've ever played 14-16 at even par.

Doesn't matter the course, I just seem to have a mental lapse in the middle of every round. From 7-14, I just seem to hit some big numbers.

I can be even par or close on 12-14 holes, but the others will put me 8+ over. It's never the same mistakes - just complete loss of focus.

That used to happen to me a lot. Walking really helps combat that. Even when I’m in a cart, if I hit a brain dead shot, I’ll walk to the ball and let my partner take the cart. I find it helps refocus me.

Don’t think about the last shot for more than 10 seconds. Think about the next one.

I played today and I was hitting the ball fairly well and my short game (my weakness) was great. I didn't worry about the few bad shots I did hit but the last 5 holes on the back 9 I had two groups in front of me that was very slow and was hacking the ball all around the course. Wouldn't let me play through and I got frustrated. My pace was gone and I had way too much time to think about the next shot. Went from shooting a potential 39 on the back to shooting a 44.

I just started playing again after a pretty long layoff, and this is totally me. I've been even or better through 5 several times and have completely blown up after.

Me 100%. It's gotten to the point where if I hit a really bad shot, the guy I usually play with will say "you gonna walk to that one?"

This screws me a lot. I play fairly fast. I get a number, pick a club and go. When you have to agonize 5 minutes over every shot, it sucks.

I was at the point today where I was almost ready to call it before I finished the 17th hole. I know I waited 10 minutes on the tee box to hit my drive.

Pretty good answer. 16 is so narrow that you have to be very precise. 17 is long with a funky green that is hard to get to. And if you aren't in the middle on 18 off the tee, you are either in the water or have a hard angle to the green.

And as a whole, it's the 3 hardest holes on the course after playing 15 relatively easy holes that have room for error.
