Where does most of the hate for COD: IW come from...?

Is it just the futuristic aspect with floating around in space and the weapons? Or is it other things as well? This is the first COD I have played in a few years, so other than the frustrating phase of getting pwn'd by avid players, I haven't hated on it as much as other people have.

I'm not huge on the maps. That's probably my only complaint.

i heard it's a decent improvement, but why play it when you have BF1 and Titanfall?

For some people it is this, but I think its mostly going from a somewhat realistic concept to basically Halo. I bought into the futuristic stuff for a while, but it is getting to be too much.

Really wish people would stop making this comparison. They are nothing like that franchise other than the space/future setting. Halo will always have a special place in my heart, so I resent such comparisons

Boots on the ground. It's what most gamers who didn't start gaming 5 years ago want. Battlfield still delivers, COD stopped a long time ago. Also, COD4, W@W, MW2, and BLOPS are really beloved games, and it stings for people who still love those games that their greatest gaming memories are associated with a franchise that has gone off the deep end in terms of high flying futuristic action. Not to mention the super hectic pace that's really hard for older gamers, such as myself, to keep up with.

have played BF1 and enjoyed it somewhat. It does have a bit more realist appeal with the leading your enemy when shooting them, but I still take COD over BF1 any day.

I didn't get into gaming that much until college and COD was my first real attempt at it, so maybe that's why I prefer it over other games.

They're so different, there's room for both, honestly. I was a fan of Advanced Warfare, and that was my high flying shooter fix, going to Battlefield when I wanted something more traditional.

IW screwed up in a lot of areas, the biggest, IMO, being the maps. Maybe the ones in the beta were a bad sample size, but just no fun and too crammed.

Granted I didn't play much of the beta but it just seems really cheesy IMO. Like Call of Duty meets Transformers.

This 100%. Until you get a feel for them and know the nooks and crannies, it's damn near impossible to not be spawn killed. The worst game mode for this is Domination! But yes, I'd have to agree. the maps are subpar

Based on what I know, the game developers (I'm not sure who it is this time due to it changing frequently) have been gradually introducing more and more changes to the overall gameplay of COD in the last several games.

This is not necessarily a bad thing until you break the game's original formula, because that pisses off the fans. I know this from experience because when 343 made Halo 4, it caused a massive meltdown in the dedicated fanbase. NOTE: IN NO WAY AM I COMPARING COD TO HALO, frick THAT shite. Yeah, I got a little bit of Halo fanboy in me, want to fight about it?

Anyway, COD seems to be dealing with a similar problem. Changing the game way too much is leading to dissent among the fanbase that has been dedicated for a long while.

If you hate it, that's because you don't play or like Zombies. I don't even know what the rest of the game looks like and I haven't played multiplayer since MW2.

What does the board think of the new Zombies, BTW? Love the map and the setting, personally.

Someone doesn't have to waste their money on something to not like it.

Black Ops 1-2 had the best Zombie maps. All of the ones since have been very lackluster IMO.

Single player sure, but CoD multiplayer has about always been team deathmatch killfests and not shooting for any kind of feeling of real war.

My main complaint about COD is getting nickle and dimed everywhere if playing on console. You need to buy the game, buy online subscriptions, and buy new map packs that come out pretty often.

Body Modifications, "boost jumping", vertical maps, no actual sniping just stop and pop. The main thing is the overall play style IMO, but Halo does it a lot better.

There is 0 benefit to sniping in a COD game. You can do it, and some people are really good at it, but the difficulty isn't worth the effort with all the jet packs and boosters and whatever the frick else they have in this one

I'm arguing that you think there's no sniping in Halo. And play style wise, couldn't be further from each other. You actually have to work for kills in Halo. And the pace is a lot more manageable.
