Haven't watch the whole thing yet but the end is pretty cool. Does Kirby survive? So you start out as Kirby in the adventure mode?

There’s something about the piranha plant that’s disappointing but really exciting at the same time

They also said that there would be 5 DLC characters in addition to the Piranha Plant, and I think these 5 have been decided since they’re also getting a stage alongside them. Any Assist Trophy is out of consideration, so here are my best guesses:

1) Rex and Prya
2) Banjo Kazooie
3) Shantae
4) Ray-Man
5) Paper Mario

Rex and Prya, Sakurai directly says the reason they didn’t make the roster is that the roster was established by the time of Xenoblade 2’s release, so these two are guaranteed.

Banjo, it kind of seems like common sense when Microsoft themselves can make a profit. Shantae and the Rabbids are already Spirits, but K Rool is as well, hence Spirits aren’t ruled out for DLC. I think Ray-Man and Shantae will be added along with Rabbids and Ricky Boots Assist Trophies.

Paper Mario is a bit of a shot in the dark, but seems like he could be a natural fit and be very unique from the original Mario.

I didn't think the "Grinch Leek" was absolutely definitive, but I have to admit that Ken and Incineroar being the last 2 character reveals is pretty disappointing. I thought for sure there'd be at least one surprise today.

i bought the entire game plus DLC digital today.

My best guess for DLC characters would be ones that aren’t already in franchise or VERY obscure. I say this because they mention the multiple music tracks and to me, that pretty much rules out most Xenoblade characters since there’s already a shite ton of tracks available for that franchise across the games.

Banjo makes sense purely because nothing from the stages to the music or character design and moveset has been touched on by any measure in Smash Ultimate. As well as the fact that they aren’t a spirit character either as far as we’ve been shown. Characters like Elma, Skull Kid (already deconfirmed but just as an example) and others that are prominent in their respective franchise certainly warrant consideration, but the criteria given rules them out pretty easily.


So, Banjo makes sense first of all. Sora, as much as I hate it, is next in line. Ryu Hayabusa in my opinion makes sense as well. A really big one in my opinion that’s fairly recent is YorHa Unit 2B. Music is incredible, the stage potential is there, and the character is very well received for...probably all the wrong reasons.


Ones that I’d say that are at least 3rd party for sure that are long shots though are Doomslayer and Geralt to name a few.


So there you have mine. Some sound a bit off the wall, but considering what Sakurai laid out, I’d say that those are closer to fact than fiction.

Rex and Banjo are in I think.

I think a Square Enix character makes it simply due to the ports next year. And I really want it to be "Black Mage" or something like that. Would be a great send up.

I think Waluigi is going to be a DLC character, probably in that first pack, and I think we get Ribbon Girl as well.
