It's complicated. You can talk with just your squad. But, the squad can turn on team chat (all of the squad should do this) and talk to the entire team. It takes coordination.
The bad thing is that if we roll more than four deep, Da Clan members outside the squad don't show up green and it's hard to tell them apart from other randoms.
I wish platoon players showed up a different color than blue or green.

whats weird is that last night, i never changed from squad chat to team chat, yet i could hear noz who wasn't in my squad

That's why I thought they introduced the platoon concept, but obviously, it has no impact in the game.

ETA: i've thought about messaging their facebook page and asking why can't they make it to where a group of 12 can play on the same team in squads of 4. Or why can't 4 seperate squads join a game together

I think on the battlelog page, it says something about seeing how your platoon stacks up against others. We must have missed that part.

Were you both not in a squad at all? Or maybe you were on team chat and so was he?
I'm going to see if I can give Dice some feedback on that platoon icon thing. Hopefully that's something they could patch.
ETA: Any of you use recon? Y'all unlock SOFLAM yet? If so, you need to use it and piggyback on me shooting your painted shite down.
