Both are great but I think my playstyle lends towards Divinity Original Sin.

I want to explore everything and it’s a more enjoyable process in Divinity.

Something about Pillars feels empty.

Divinity is a little direct and to the point. As someone who wants to consume everything, I’ve already gotten tired of reading souls in Pillars.

I will say Pillars has some more genuinely brilliant fantasy ideas. Animancers and hallowborn andnall of that. Divinity does feel comfortable though, I do like slightly dorky orcs.

Combat wise, and I know people will disagree with me, I’m leaning towards Divinity (though i still don’t fully understand some of the button interplay)

Character variation is better in Divinity but character creation is a better experience in Oillars. I made my wizard a Might and Intellect build. There’s something very satisfying with how those builds play out story wise.

That’s all for now. Further along in Pillars but Divinity is grabbing me more

I could only see the first 1:30 of the video due to bad internet connection but that looks good.

I will add, the word “backer-beta” should be stricken from existence

Not sure why many would disagree with you, Divinity is pretty much known for having the amazing combat. The sheer number of things you can do to the environment during battle is outstanding.

Pillars has some really inventive things it did that could make the sequel outstanding if they fix some of the things that made the original fall flat and feel a little empty as you mentioned.

I enjoyed both games a great deal, but D:OS is by far the better game.

Some of us don't want to micro our party, that's why I only got about 30 minutes into DOS 2.

That's fine, there is always stuff like Inquisition and and Pillars for folks that don't care for in depth tactical combat.

D:OS 2 has fantastic ratings across the board and is getting game of the year noms all over the place though, pretty clear you are in the minority in your opinion on it.

I can understand that. That’s why I play Lone Wolves. More action points, double level up points, less inventory management.

But honestly it took about 30 hrs for DOS2 to “click” with me. That can be a lot to ask.
